Giving your teeth a professional clean
Gum disease is caused by plaque – a film of sticky bacteria that is constantly forming on your teeth. The fact that the plaque is always there makes it a constant battle to ensure that it doesn’t lead to gum disease.
During your hygiene appointment your teeth will be cleaned professionally. The dentist will gently remove any plaque from your teeth, together with calculus, which is a hardened form of plaque. They will also give your teeth a polish, making them feel fresh and clean and making it more difficult for the plaque to stick to them.
Our air-polishing system shoots compressed air, water and particles of sodium bicarbonate to remove stubborn stains and further polishes the teeth. This is especially useful in cleaning areas difficult to access, especially between the teeth. This will leave you with a stain-free and whiter smile.
